Foundation Drawing

The Foundational Drawing Class was fabulous!

I have not only been given some wonderful tools and techniques to help me produce pleasing results in my drawing endeavours, but have been taught how to really look and see beyond the obvious. Fast paced living, machines that do much of the thinking for us,

and the elusiveness of time seem to rob us of the ability to see things as they really are. The Foundational Drawing Class dispels this mentality and teaches students to really look and see, as they learn to draw.

Throughout the course, I gained confidence and a personal sense of achievement, which have led to many happy hours of creativity. I went into the class full of expectation, ready to learn, absorb, try, and be challenged. I was not disappointed.

I think our innate creative facet whether recognised or not, craves fulfillment, and I can happily testify that mine has been well nurtured and nourished at Illustration House under the direction of professional, unpretentious, warm, and encouraging staff.

About School Visual Literacy Programs

Illustration House provided our Year 1 Students with a valuable opportunity to see how a book comes into existence. From the initial discussions about what we wanted to achieve from our visit, through to the presentation, staff were keen to meet the outcomes we had in mind. The personalised presentation relating to narrative texts gave our children the opportunity to have hands on experience with seeing not only how illustrations are created for books but also how the main elements of a text are developed. The opportunity to attend Illustration House and participate in this experience made it a tangible reality for children and staff alike. This was a worthwhile and enjoyable learning experience!
