Differing from our term based art classes, our school holiday art programs for children 7 to 14 are designed to look at specific techniques and mediums in set blocks of time (usually 2hrs). Our School Holiday Programs at Illustration House are not an 'arty crafty' holiday fill-in, but rather, fun sessions in drawing and in various art techniques that children so often wish to really understand, such as drawing dragons, feathered creatures, portraits etc. We do not try to 'teach' children to draw in what is essentially a short period of time because many of the children who come to Illustration House to experience holiday programs live long distances from South Bank, and are not therefore able to regularly attend the after school programs. · Two-hour workshops are specifically aimed at children that display a high degree of interest in art and the art processes, and are given by specialist teachers who understand that children are inquisitive and have a strong desire to 'really get it right'. · Sessions are designed to look at specific techniques and mediums that can be explored in a couple of hours, and are designed to ensure that children have fun, and also learn something in the process that they can then practice on at home. The 2 hour workshops for children 7 -12 include morning or afternoon tea, and all materials. $35. Discounts apply for two or more sessions. · Children with a desire to learn to create a picture book will love our one-day workshop that takes them through the process of story writing, and the skills and techniques of a book illustrator. Children will, over the course of the day, write, illustrate, and construct their own book. Lunch and all materials are provided in this 6 hour session for children aged 10 to16 years. Numbers are limited. $90.
